I have found in my conversations with people who are out of the habit of church attendance that most have simply drifted away. Most people are not angry with the church, though some are. Most people have just become too busy to fit church in their schedule.

Church attendance is like our relationship with Christ.  You can get along for a while without investing time and energy, but over time neglecting both will have a negative effect on your life.

So, I hope you will consider the importance of going to church and worshiping God with other believers.  I found 7 good reasons to go to church…

“… for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.” (Isaiah 56:7)

The church is a place of Prayer. The Lord says My house shall be a house of Prayer. When we go to church we must go in an attitude of prayer. We must take all our burdens to the Lord in prayer. We must present our petitions to Him.There is great power in the united prayer of the church.

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4)

The church is a place of praise. We must enter into His presence with singing and into His courts with praise.God inhabits the praises of His people. We must go to church in an attitude of praise and worship with a heart of thanksgiving and gratitude to God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us.We must not go to church with a spirit of grumbling and murmuring against God.

“I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.” (Psalms 40:9)

The church is a place of proclamation of God’s word.We must go with a receptive and a hungry heart to listen to the voice of God. The church is the place of proclamation of God’s truth and not a platform to voice human theories and philosophies. We must go to church with a burning desire to hear God speak to us and to learn His ways.

“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” (James 5:14-15)

The church is a place of the power of God. We must go to church to experience His power. God longs to demonstrate His power in the midst of His people. We must go to church with an expectation and a strong faith to see the Power of God in action to bring deliverance to God’s people from all the bondages of Satan.

“For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.” (1 Corinthians 3:9)

The church is a place of partnership where God’s children unite to labor for the Lord in partnership. We are co-laborers with Christ. We must go to church in an attitude of unity and partnership to work unitedly with God’s people to fulfill the task of the church. We should not go to church with the intention of quarreling and fighting with anybody but to work in harmony with others.

“That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:26-27)

The church is a place of preparation of the bride of Christ to meet the Heavenly Bridegroom. We must go to church with the humility and realization that we are to be prepared to meet Christ. Therefore we must be willing to be corrected and rebuked in order to remove our flaws and deficiencies.Preparation requires changes and purification and we must go to church realizing our need for correction and be willing to receive instruction.

” For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

The church is a place of the presence of God. Wherever two or three are gathered in His name the Lord will be in their midst. We must go to church longing to enjoy and experience the presence of God. He must be the focus of our attention. Without the presence of God all other activities will be in vain. We must go to church primarily to experience the presence of God which brings the deepest satisfaction to our hearts. All other attractions are secondary. We must not go to church merely as a required tradition or just to enjoy music or to meet friends etc. We must go to church with a longing to experience the fullness of His presence.

Why do you go to church?
