This past Monday one of my heroes passed away.  Pastor Bill Dinoff suffered an earlier stroke and died at the age of 78.  He founded and pastored one of the great churches of America, Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio.  I worked for him as College & Career Director for 5 years (19871992).  I learned so much from him about ministry.

His funeral will be Saturday at 11am at Fellowship Baptist Church.  I wish I could be there. I really do.  So many people I would like to see again.  However, it will be our church’s 40th anniversary.  We are having New Destiny Quartet, a car show, and dinner on the grounds.  Our goal is to have 400 on our 40th anniversary. These are all things I learned from Dr. Dinoff.  I have been at Faith Baptist for 20 years. Not close to the 48 years Dr. Dinoff was at Fellowship Baptist. But many times through the years I called Dr. Dinoff about ‘church problems’ and he encouraged me to stick it out.  I am here because of his example.  I will miss his wisdom and friendship.

He was born and raised close by me – in Toledo, Ohio. He was born again at Toledo Baptist Temple and attended Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac.  I will surely miss him. But heaven is so much sweeter today.

I found a video I thought I would share. It’s a few years old, but it’s such a blessing to see all God has done through Pastor Bill Dinoff and his wife, Jean.

If you have a memory of Dr & Mrs. Dinoff, please share it with me.
