Attending a national meeting of pastors can be rewarding and difficult. Most of the pastors of a movement cannot attend a national meeting. So, a few years ago I began to blog at the meetings I could attend so others could get at least a sense of what was going on. It has been very rewarding for me.

At the 2017 Winter meeting of the Baptist Bible Fellowship I loved my time with Central Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. My wife and I arrived a little early and we visited Mrs. Lee’s Daffodil Garden, a Tiger refuge, the largest Confederate P.O.W. camp, and many other great sites. We also enjoyed eating at world famous Stanley’s BBQ and the Daniel Boone Restaurant.

But I had to leave early. So my good friend John Reilly of Beacon Baptist Church was able to take some notes for me. So, thanks John! But I was able to attend a special luncheon with the Wednesday evening speaker, Krish Dhanum. So, I have a few of those notes. I hope something in what is shared will encourage you in your life journey.

A few notes from the luncheon – Krish Dhanum

2 things we need to remember if we are going to move.

  1. Acceleration after Ignition. Most people want the end of the process while they are in the middle of the process. Sometimes you need to wait to see it all accomplished.
  2. Vision before Provision. Rather than pray ‘Lord use me’, try praying ‘Lord make me useable’. What do we want to be? Where do we want to go? Rather than trying to get an inheritance we should work on leaving a legacy.

6 questions to ask yourself daily.

  1. Who are you?
  2. Where do you come from?
  3. Whom do you credit?
  4. What makes you laugh?
  5. What makes you grieve?
  6. What gives you hope?

Communications is Key to Movement

harpRandy Harp, Communications Director of the Baptist Bible Fellowship, shared the value of churches connecting on Wednesday evening. His message was simply ‘Why?’

Steve Jobs & Apple started their movement by asking the question ‘Why?’ Most companies start with What. But successful companies start with Why.

The church has the clearest ‘Why’. In Matthew 28:19-20 we discover that the church exists to make disciples. That is our ‘Why.’

Mark Twain said all need to know not just the day they were born, but why you were born.

Your ‘why’ has to be greater than any obstacle in your life.
