The best way to deal with slander is to pray about it. Don’t let anyone or anything keep you from keeping God’s Word. God will either remove it or remove the sting from it. Often my attempts at clearing myself have been failures. It is like trying to get an ink stain from a shirt. The more we try to rub it out, the bigger it gets.
