Every woman is a creation of God and is special. The world is a better place because of the influence of women. Women are valuable.
As I thought of the value of women, I thought of things that are valuable to me. So, allow me to share three reasons why women are valuable.
A woman is valuable because of who she is.
And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him…And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;.. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man… And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Gen. 2:18, 21-22;1:31)
Some things are intrinsically valuable. They don’t have to do anything to make themselves valuable. Diamonds are like that. Diamonds are extremely valuable. The most expensive diamond is the Koh-i-noor diamond. It is 105 carats and belongs to the British crown. It is considered priceless.
Yet, as God created the world and placed man in it, He needed to add something to make it ‘very good’ – a woman. Women are not only made in the image of God, but they are a special work of God to make creation complete.
A woman is valuable because of what she does.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. (1 Peter 3:7)
Some things are valuable because of what they do for us – such as a car, a cell phone, or computer are valuable. It is amazing all the things a simple cell phone will do – take pictures, remember appointments, play music, pay bills, etc. Most of us would be lost without our cell phone.
God made women different than men. Different doesn’t mean women are inferior. God created man to be the loving leader in the home. And He created women to be submissive. Women have a different outlook on life that complements man’s outlook. When Peter tells us that women are ‘weaker vessels’, he doesn’t mean they are less than man. Weaker simple means they are have a more fragile disposition and should be treated with greater care.
A woman is valuable because of what she represents.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Ephesians 5:23)
I have a pocket watch that belonged to my great grandfather, Linzy Burdine. It doesn’t work and isn’t worth anything on the market. But it is valuable to me because it is a family heirloom.
Women have a special place in the heart of Jesus. When Paul was trying to explain the relationship of Jesus with the church, he likened Jesus to a husband and the church to a wife. Jesus died for the church as a husband is willing to die for his wife. Women represent the most precious thing in the world to Jesus – His church.
However, the real value of something is what someone is willing to spend on it. Many of us have ‘collections’ of baseball cards, comic books, figurines, etc. No matter what the book says they are worth, they are only worth what somebody is willing to pay for them.
God loves us so much He not only was willing, but sent His only begotten Son to die for us. And Jesus loves us so much that He not only said He loved us, but He showed it by dying on the cross. So not only do women have value, but men have value, because the cost of possessing you was the life of Jesus. Jesus paid for you with His life. You are of eternal value to God.
