Yesterday’s post was about the time when a demon went to the synagogue (The Day the Devil went to Church). However, though it may be a surprise to know that a demon will go to a worship service, it is fantastic to know that Jesus goes to church. So here’s my thoughts about….
When Jesus Goes to Church…
1. People will be amazed at the words of Jesus.
The Bible is Jesus’ way of speaking to His people. The Word must be shared properly and powerfully.
2. People will be changed by the work of Jesus.
There is always trouble when the truth is taught. Someone asked Charles Spurgeon when he knew if he preached a good sermon. His answer, ‘That’s easy. It’s a good sermon if someone gets saved or someone gets mad.’ Jesus helped this man through the trouble.
3. People will be told of the wonder of Jesus.
Word will get around at what Jesus is doing in a church. Lives changed, marriages restored, backsliders reclaimed, lost souls saved. Those present take notice and will spread the word around. As a result, Jesus’ fame spreads through the area. When Jesus is in a church, it will not be a quiet thing. The good news will spread.
I think the problem in many church & Christian lives is we are no longer amazed by Jesus anymore. We are so accustomed to His presence that it isn’t special anymore. We’re like the ‘Church in Ephesus’ that Jesus wrote to in Revelation 2:1-7. They had all the right works and correct doctrine, but they ‘left their first love.’ They still had the furnace, but the fire was out. Jesus told them to get back where they need to be you need to repent, remember, and redo (the first works).
Are you amazed at Jesus?
