I want to encourage you to do something for someone very dear to me.
There is a running race in Clinton, Michigan on Saturday, June 11 in memory of Kassie Wingerd. It is called “iRun for Kassie.” You can enter for a 5K, 10K or 1/2 mile fun run. I think I’m going to do the 5K. All proceeds of the race will benefit the Kassie Wingerd Scholarship Fund. The first year, 2012, raised $6,000. Pre-registration is $20 (after is $25). This year, 2016, the first scholarship was presented. This is the year Kassie would have graduated high school.
Kassie was a young girl who grew up at Faith Baptist Church. Her grandmother (Bev Russell) and aunt (Annette Roesch) are still current members of our church. I remember when she was born on Valentine’s Day of 1998. She was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 10 and passed away on October 14, 2011 at the age of 13.
If you like to run or want to just have some fun for a good cause, please contact Kassie’s cousin, Danielle Roesch. Information can be located at: runningwithes.com.
